Within the Women's Mission Society (WMS), there were nine geographic districts. It was through these districts that the national organization received contributions from member women's groups. In 1940 the office of district representative was created. These representatives were members of the Executive Board. District organizations met regularly, kept financial records, and some even published newsletters. By 1957, constitutions were enacted for district-level WMS. Records include minutes from district meetings, district meeting reports, correspondence, newsletters, and financial reports. The minutes and reports are from district meetings, and the financial reports show district receipts and disbursements. Correspondence is only that of District 2 and is primarily to the district from the national organization. Not every district in this series has each type of record mentioned. What is included in this series depends upon whether or not the district believed it was something it wanted to transfer to the archives. District 4 has very comprehensive records. The secretary's book contains minutes, reports, correspondence, and convention material. The district 4 treasurer's book is also included. Records are arranged by district.
